What’s a Net?<\/span>
\nNet (n):\u00a0an \u201con-the-air\u201d<\/a> gathering of amateur radio operators.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Most nets convene on a regular schedule and specific frequency<\/a>, and are organized for a particular purpose, such as relaying messages, discussing a common topic of interest, in severe weather (for example, during a Skywarn<\/a> activation), emergencies, or simply as a regular gathering of friends for conversation.<\/p>\n

SATERN NET INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are 2 regional nets being conducted in the Central territory and you are encouraged to check in to them as you are able. The general purpose of these nets is for training through operating practice and experiencing propagation variation. During times of large scale disaster, these nets could be used for Salvation Army traffic. \u00a0The net information is: <\/span>Saturday<\/span><\/span> at 1530Z on or about 7.265 MHz is the primary Central territory SATERN Net. Special event stations and contests sometimes require the net to relocate a few KHz up or down so you may have to tune around a bit.<\/span>
\n\u00a0<\/span>
\nOn Thursday at 7:00PM<\/span><\/span> Central Time (either standard or daylight Savings Time) there is a secondary SATERN Net on 60 meters. This is a channelized band with 5 Channels available. The net is held on the lowest available channel beginning at 5.330.50 MHz., USB.\u00a0 This band exhibits interesting propagation and appears to be especially useful for emergency communications.<\/span>\u00b7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>Traffic relevant to SATERN or TSA EDS is always welcome but is definitely not a prerequisite for checking in to either net.<\/span>Also, here are non-Central Territory SATERN nets that may be of interest to you:<\/span>The SOUTHERN<\/span> TERRITORY<\/span> SATERN HF SSB <\/span>VOICE<\/b><\/span> NET is on <\/span>7.262.0 MHz<\/b><\/span> on Saturdays at <\/span>11:00 AM (Eastern) \/ 10:00 AM<\/span><\/span> (Central)<\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The SOUTHERN<\/span> TERRITORY<\/span> SATERN HF <\/b><\/span>DIGI<\/b><\/span>–<\/b>NET is on <\/span>14.065.0 MHz<\/b><\/span> <\/b>on Saturdays at <\/b><\/span>1:00 PM (Eastern) \/ 12:00 PM<\/span><\/span> (Central)<\/b><\/span>. \u00a0<\/b>Default mode is <\/span>OLIVIA 8\/500<\/b><\/span> <\/b>(8 Tones, 500 Wide) offset by the standard 1000 Hz. \u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
