Antrim County ARPSC (ARES/RACES) needs assistance with the Paddle Antrim event this weekend!

6 operators are needed for each day:
Friday Sep. 15
Saturday Sep. 16

Details:
(Fri, 15th) Ellsworth to Bellaire
Fridays event starts in Ellsworth around 8am, lunch in Central Lake and finish in Bellaire around 4pm. the route goes through Ellsworth lake, Wilson Lake, Benway Lake, Hanley Lake and Intermediate Lake.

(Sat, 19th) Bellaire to Elk Rapids
Saturdays event starts in Bellaire around 7am, Lunch in Alden and ends up in Elk Rapids Saturday afternoon. This route takes boaters through Lake Bellaire, Clam Lake, Torch Lake, Torch River, Lake Skegemog , Elk Lake and then Elk River.

What we’ll be doing:
Our assignments would be spotters to notify staff where the kayaks are located along the course and if there is a problem that will require 911 etc. we will position spotters at bridge crossings. There is one location we could position someone that involves walking in and sitting on the dock at Grass River Natural Area.

There is going to be a party after the event ends on Saturday Afternoon at Shorts Brewery in Elk Rapids.

Freq: Mancelona Repeater, 147.38+ aka “THE K8WQK”
We will be using the Mancelona 2 meter repeater and will have the use of MSPSCS network (AKA the state 800 system)

We also will need to monitor a marine channel for the sweep Kayaks.

There is a Google + group for Antrim County ARPSC so feel free to join..
